Joint Research Centre

The mission of the JRC is to provide customer-driven scientific and technical support for the conception, development, implementation and monitoring of EU policies. As a service of the European Commission, the JRC functions as a reference centre of science and technology for the Union. Close to the policymaking process, it serves the common interest of the Member States, while being independent of special interests, whether private or national.
 

Institute for Health and Consumer Protection

The mission of the IHCP is to provide scientific support to the development and implementation of EU policies related to health and consumer protection. The IHCP carries out research to improve the understanding of potential health risk posed by chemicals, biocides, genetically modified organism, contaminants released from food contact materials and consumer products.
 

Physical and Chemical Exposure Unit

"The Unit provides scientific understanding, information and assessment tools to support the Commission services in evaluating and quantifying exposure and risk assessments for environmental stressors. Stressors include chemicals, biological contaminants, radiation and noise".
